An apology

2 Oct

There is a chance, if you happened by at the wrong time, you would have come across a link. That link would have taken you to a Google Doc containing a very explicit Harry/Draco slash scene from a Harry Potter fanfiction I’ve been working on. It’s a very, very long, EXTREMELY annoying story why, but I had to briefly use this blog as a way-point for people trying to get from my account to the Google Doc. It has been remedied, and I apologize for blindsighting anyone here. I was a bit frantic.

And, if you did find your way over to the Google Doc and got interested, here’s a link to the real story: Ostriches.

15 May

Here it is! Enjoy!

FO: Billie!! At last!!!!

11 May

But first, let me introduce you to Lindsay David:

He is a Worrible and I got him for my birthday. He’s the most squishable, cuddly, anti-anxiety guy out there, and he’s my new best friend. I thought you should know.

Anyways, Billie is finally done! I’m wearing it right now and it is warm and cosy (except for the cuffs that are still slightly damp, but poo on those). I took oodles of pictures for your entertainment and amusement:

Billie is A Lot Of Sweater, especially in the bright orange I picked. I am quite okay with this, I just expect to get a lot of Looks when I wear it out and about. Also you can hardly see the bit of wrong orange on the one shoulder, which is excellent. All’s well that ends well! Plus I learned from my LYS how to sew seams together the Right Way, which is pretty exciting.

Pattern: Billie by Kim Hargreaves
Time Span: 16 May 2011 to 10 May 2012.
Materials: 25~ skeins of Valley Yarns Sugarloaf and a little bit of Fibranatura Sensational
Ravelry link:

Other stuff’s been going on too! I got the last of the Dawn I’ll need for my Rumble, so now I just need to decide on the second color and slowly stock up on that, too. It only takes four skeins, which isn’t too bad, but they’re still $20 each.

I also got a skein of Cascade 220 Superwash to make worsted weight socks because, y’know, worsted weight socks. It’s a lovely marigold that doesn’t really show up here:

A few days ago I did a Bad Thing and cast on Anisette with my Ella Rae Latte. It’s super soft and silky and shiny and wonderful, and the pattern is a good amount of interesting-but-not-too-boring-and-not-too-complicated. Here’s a really shitty picture of my progress so far (please note the donut stitch markers):

And that, my friends, is it! I know it’s Friday and this isn’t a vlog, but this post lended itself better to being written out. Expect a vlog update sometime this weekend.

Health Problems and a little bit of Knitting.

7 May

First off, yes, I am aware that I misspeak the name of my blog. It happens. For some reason as soon as the camera comes on I just can’t think of the name of my blog. It’s silly.

Secondly, this is a very personal, difficult vlog for me to share with you, so please be kind. Not that I’ve ever gotten any negative comments, but today in particular we’re all about the positivity.

And so, without further ado, here is today’s vlog:

Caching and Llamas

28 Apr

And vlogs, of course!

Here are the promised pictures:

Nature ^^

Maybe it's just cause I watched Candyman the other night, but I found the juxtaposition of graffiti and nature particularly interesting today.

This is my daddy! I loves him lots ❤

More nature! ^^

So, sometimes my knitting mojo escapes me. It just wanders off, leaving me with a lot of half-done projects and no inspiration to finish, or even work on, anything. It strikes the worst when I have too many big projects, like afghans and sweaters, and I’m not close to finishing any of them. Then it just feels like nothing is ever going to get done ever, and there’s no point in working on anything.

So today I went yarn shopping.

And now everything is better! I’m going to make fingerless gloves because I used to have a ton of pairs but somehow they all disappeared. Making fingerless gloves was at least 90% of why I learned to knit in the first place, and it kills me that I only have a few pairs left that I know where they are. And at least one of them is in duress; I should be able to fix it, if only the yarn I knit it with wanders back to me.

Anyways, this is what I got:

Sublime Luxurious Woolly Merino

Lorna's Laces Shepherd Worsted

Queensland Collection Haze

I am really, really excited for these. Expect an FO post in the near future 😀

Piano Times

24 Apr

Hey guys! Did you know I can play piano? Well I can! I’ve even been playing since I was two! And then a friend of mine uploaded a video of her singing and playing piano onto YouTube and I thought, hey! I can do those things! This will totally work!

First off, Garage Band is confusing, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. I ended up doing all of this in Photo Booth because I know how it works, and that at least was simpler, and as far as I can tell, there was no loss in quality. But oh, my friends, the quality. The quality was not good. Especially when the notes got loud. And, y’know, notes tend to get loud.

Also, it’s really hard to play piano, look at the camera, sing the right notes, turn the pages and not forget to not play too loudly at the same time. Which is how I got from this:

happy, in-the-zone face...

To this:

throwing sheet music in the air...

And finally to this:

angry, scary face.

When all I wanted was a pretty picture of me playing piano, like this:

Only, see, by picture I really mean video. I tried, friends and neighbours. I tried so hard to get a video of me playing a whole song. But it just would. not. cooperate. even a little bit. This was the first semi-decent thing to happen:

But the thing is, the intro was wrong. Even though I wanted it to be right. But the rest of the video was good, so I’m still putting it up for your enjoyment/criticism. Here’s a better video of me playing the intro actually correctly (dada!):

So there you have it.

Actually, wait, isn’t this a knitting blog? Whoops. Um. Let’s see. I’ve been working a little bit on Frankie’s front and I’m almost at pocket placement, I’ve finish the sleeve of Snuggleupagus (have I said that already? I think I have. Oh well). I’m almost ready to start working on squares again. And I promise a real update on all things knitterly no later than Vlog Friday.
